One Dead In Trucking Accident Denton, TX

By Williams & Brown LLP on October 31, 2017

Denton, TX

Two loose wheels from an 18-wheeler killed a man on a motorcycle.

Tuesday, October 31st, 2017

Brady Burger was driving his motorcycle southbound on I-35 at around 1:45 p.m. when a set of dual wheels from an 18-wheeler detached from a trailer. The wheels then jumped over the concrete barrier striking Brady on his motorcycle, fatally injuring him. The wheels also hit a Toyota Camry causing damage but no injury to the passengers.

The driver of the semi was interviewed and the wreck is currently under investigation.

Map of the Area

Commentary

The loss of human life is tragic and often avoidable. A man has died, and there needs to be a thorough investigation to find out the cause of the initial mechanical malfunction. Working wheels, that are in good repair, and attached correctly, do not typically fall off an 18-wheeler. It is possible that better maintenance or better company policies could have prevented this accident from ever happening.

In cases like this I strongly advise the loved ones left behind hire a board certified personal injury attorney. Big trucking companies have lots of resources to protect themselves after an wreck, and you need an experienced attorney to level the playing field and fight for you.

Commentary

When someone loses their life in a car accident it is a tragedy. It can be easy to initially assign the blame of an accident like this on driver error because we don’t have all the facts, but the truth of the matter is there are so many other factors that could have led to an accident like this. Poor road conditions, mechanical failure, or other drivers can all be factors outside of the driver’s control that cause something like a crossover to occur.

These factors may not show up on an initial investigation. When someone loses their life or is seriously injured in a car wreck, it is important that a thorough investigation occurs by trained professionals.

Map of the Area

Commentary

In single vehicle fatality accidents, it is important for friends and family of the victim to get all the facts, so they can reach some form of closure. Sometimes thorough investigations reveal that a single vehicle crash occurred not solely due to driver error.  There may be conditions on the highway that played a role in causing the crash. If the driver was not at fault and the accident was due to a third-party mistake or negligence, that party may be legally responsible and may be held accountable. For those loved ones and family left behind not only can this provide closure, but also security for their future.

One in Hospital in Seguin, Texas, Car Accident

By Williams & Brown LLP on October 19, 2017

Seguin, TX

On Thursday, October 19th a two-vehicle collision sent one woman to the hospital.

At approximately 2pm police and fire departments responded to a collision between a white Plymouth Neon and a white Nissan Titan. The accident put a passenger of the vehicles into the hospital. Details of the crash have been initially muddled due to differing descriptions of what occurred. Police are asking for any bystanders or witnesses to please come forward to help with the details.

The wreck is still under investigation.

Map of the Area

Commentary

When car crashes occur between two parties without anyone else to see them first-hand, it can sometimes look like a case of two people’s words versus each other. However, even without the corroborating story of a third-party, a thorough investigation of the crash can, and often does, turn up crucial evidence necessary to determine who was at fault. If you have been hurt in a car accident due to someone else’s fault, we strongly suggest you hire an experienced personal injury attorney. Not only can that attorney help you hold the responsible party accountable, but they can also help you recover the expenses and compensation for losses you have sustained.

Family Honors Memory of Sam Graham with MADD Walk Against Drunk Driving in Temple, TX

By Williams & Brown LLP on October 18, 2017

Media contact: Joshua Weaver, 254-366-9817.

October 18, 2017

In 2013, a nursing home employee was sent home from work near Temple, TX for being too inebriated to work. Too drunk to function at work, the employee climbed behind the wheel of her car, started the engine, and attempted to drive herself home. On her way home, she slammed into the side of Sam Graham’s car, killing him and injuring his wife and two children. Sam was a son, a husband, and a father. He never drank. He did nothing wrong. His life was snuffed out because someone made the terrible mistake of choosing to get behind the wheel of a car and drive drunk.

MADD Walk Against Drunk Driving

Now, Sam’s family honors his memory by helping spread awareness of the dangers of drunk driving. KCEN recently featured the Graham family as they joined more than 130 in a march down West Ave. in Temple with one simple message:

“Don’t drink and drive, you’ll kill people.”

Williams & Brown, LLP represented the Graham family as they went through this horrible nightmare. We were proud to help them investigate and find out what actually happened on the day this employee was sent home from work because she was drunk.  The Grahams are a wonderful family who have suffered an unimaginable loss that was preventable. We join our voices in support of the Grahams’ message: Never drink and drive. With more than 980 people killed in Texas by drunk drivers, it’s never worth the risk to yourself or to others. Be responsible. Always have a designated driver or get an Uber.

To find out how you can help take a stand against drunk driving, visit: http://madd.org.
